My dog Lucy?
I love my dog lucy but he has a problem of not staying in the yard..he always goes down the road to play with this other dog but when i go to get him, he just looks at me and follows me home..He will stay here and eat and sleep almost all day but one part of the day he is gone and he follows me every where! Sometime i have to sneak to the store so he does not follow me. I try to put him on a runner or one of those thing you put in the ground and you tie a rope but he always goes crazy (LIKE HE SCREAMS ANd YAPS) then he brakes the rope or chain and he wont shutup.,.I dont want to spank him when i get him back because he will defiantly run off but what do i do..I do not have a fense around my yard or anything..but please help me i love my dog but he has a bad problem..

If you ever get the chance to go to a A.K.C. dog show in person you can watch the owners who train their dogs to sit & stay while they go outside the building for as long as 20 minutes!
The dogs stay until their owner gives them a command to come to them and they don't move until that command is given.
In the meantime.....this is dangerous for Lucy! Maybe you could earn some money and buy a crate for her. Flea mkts. are full of large crates for cheap. Buy the biggest one you can afford.
When you go outside the yard, put Lucy in the crate...inside the house. If she cries, don't talk to her...put a sheet or something lightweight over the crate and then leave. Not for too long while you are training her at first. Then make it longer and longer until she is trained to go into the crate for extended periods of time.
This can be a wire crate or a plastic Vari kennel or several brand names available. I just bought one of the largest ones available for $30 bucks. They sell in the retail stores for over $145.00 so I got a real good deal. They come apart and can be transported easier that way going home. You will have to put the crate back together with the little screws and plastic fittings, but you can do that!
Tying her up is not a good idea either...she could get tangled and lose her life.
You "love your dog, but SHE has a bad problem" She only wants to be with you at all times and it's not her problem but yours. You have to train her to a crate, get something for a fence or train her to stay. Can you do it??? I challenge you to do it!
