Seperation Anxiety In Pets

Seperation Anxiety In Pets
Seperation Anxiety in Puppy?

My husband and I rescued a Lab/German Shepard Mix from the Shelter. We rescued him when he was 4 months old. I stay at home with him all day long. When he was 5 months old we took a trip to Florida and put him in a Pet Hotel for 10 days. When we first got him he exhibited extreme Seperation Anxiety, and then when we left him and came back he seemed to have gotten better. However, lately, we leave him home alone in our room. We leave the TV on for him. Recently he has managed to escape from our bedroom window. (Luckily a neighbor found him and returned him home) He also poops in our room when we leave him (He does not do this otherwise). He has now started cutting up his nose to the point of it bleeding and leave a huge sore. I have tried everything. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will he grow out of this?Let Me also add that he follows me around all day long and will not let me out of his sight, I thought it has something to do with the fact that I am pregnant.

It is very common when a puppy is taken away from the mother too early or the pup does not get adequate socialization. Take your puppy to a dog training class. Socialization and interaction with other dogs and dog owners will help.

Have you considered using a crate for your dog? Crates can have a very comforting affect on dogs, it makes them feel safe and you don't have the worry of your dog escaping or damaging anything when you are away. Plus dogs will not soil their sleeping area, and crates should only be big enough for the dog to lie down, turn around and stand in.
Think about the fact that you would never leave your child unattended in a room. You would either monitor the child or put the child in a play pen to keep him safe, right?

But your dog is not reacting to your pregnancy. Congrats by the way!
