How do I get an elderly dog to calm down?
A friend of the family and her husband are on vacation in Vietnam for a month. They asked my family to pet-sitt their 12-13 yr old toy poodle. The dog won't stop running around and sniffing all over the house. I know she's stressed out from being separated from her owners. How can I get her to calm down?
If you just introduced their dog to your home this is normal. He is just checking out his environment. I hope they gave you somethng of theirs, this always helps. Like a shirt of the owner or blanket. If not just take him out for a walk, get him a bit of exercise. Play with some toys. That should calm him down. It will get better with time, he is just nervous to be in a new place. Also give him some affection..the poor thing is just a bit scared and nervous.
